Bangalore: The initial days of the passing year had been tough for data managers across the globe. As the year 2009 comes to a close, they are now hoping for a new year that would bring in more funds that can go into IT.

According to a report quoting Roger Kay, Analyst with Endpoint Technologies Associates, data center managers are now looking forward to an increase in budgets again in 2010. "Some dough is what they'd like. They're all for refreshing clients now that Microsoft Windows 7 is here, and generally shortening the average system life, but they have been severely constrained this year," he added.

It however remains to be seen whether datacenter managers would succeed in seeing their hopes turn real. Gartner has already pointed out that worldwide IT spending had dipped 5.2 per cent in 2009, while enterprise spending dropped nearly 7 percent. Meanwhile, IT spending is expected to grow by 3.3 percent in 2010. A survey of more than half of all CIOs has said they expect their budgets to remain flat or decline in 2010.
