HCL America, a wholly owned subsidiary of HCL Technologies, a global IT-services company, will open a U.S. delivery center in Wake County, North Carolina. The company will invest $3.2 million and hire more than 500 employees over the next five years, thanks in part to a state Job Development Investment Grant awarded to the company.

HCL selected North Carolina due to the state’s skilled workforce, strong educational network and its proximity to its U.S. customer base. The delivery center will provide application development and maintenance, IT infrastructure management, English and Spanish help-desk support, storage design and architecture services, SAP services, engineering services, and other consulting services for U.S. customers. The facility is scheduled to open by the end of 2008.

On August 1st, 2008, HCL Technologies announced in its annual earnings that the U.S. geography continues to grow consistently, reporting sales of more than $300 million the last quarter. In addition, more than $1 billion in transformational outsourcing deals were signed during the year, with the majority of those deals originating in the U.S.

The U.S. center opening is part of HCL's global delivery strategy to offer customers support from various locations around the world. HCL currently operates delivery centers in India, China, Poland and Ireland.
